Fun Day

We had a fun day today. We went for a bike ride this morning. Bo helped some neighbors clean up a fallen tree. I was able to go to the General Relief Society broadcast which was great, I always enjoy them. Bo took Porter and Elias and his Mom and went to a volkswagen car show. Porter had a great time. He saw some cars that were there last year (look at my post from Sept. 07) and he was even in a cookie eating contest where he made the family proud. Eli had fun riding in the stroller.

Sunday night we came home from visiting Bo's mom and - surprise - we had power. We were so excited a week without power is a little on the rough side. I guess it could be so much worse though. Here are some pictures from around the neighborhood.

We woke up to Porter telling us "Cool Ms. Stephanie has a tree on her house." When we investigated the tree didn't actually hit the house - there was another tree whose branches caught the tree and kept it from falling on the house.

The picture of a fence is part of our blown down fence - as you can tell we got off pretty easy. The picture of the blown down tree is the house across the street.

These used to be the shade trees we would wait for the bus stop under - so much for that plan.

Survival

Just a quick note to let you know that we survived hurricane Ike with very little damage. Okay so we need a new fence but it could be so much worse! We still don't have power so I am borrowing Bo's mom's computer to post. We will post pictures as soon as our internet and power is back up and running.

Drag Races

Porter and Bo were able to go to the drag races. This time it was a little different. Anyone could take thier own car and race it, even a minivan. There were a group of Volkswagen owners that were planning on racing thier cars, so Bo and Porter went to watch. They had a fun time.
